Getrennt – the play
For 30 years, the Berlin Wall divided families. In an attempt to keep their love alive, two couples separated by the Iron Curtain shared passionate correspondence before they were able to reunite – legally and illegally – years later.
Séverine Vasselin and Romane Meutelet – both trilingual actresses – used their lockdown time in 2020 to imagine a play based on the stories of Barbel, Rolf, Regina and Eckhard and the testimonies of the 4 protagonists found in their letters. It was an opportunity to give a voice to these letters, to share these two incredible love stories, and to reconsider the history of the Cold War from an intimate perspective, just months following the 30th anniversary of German reunification.
A play in 2 acts, available in French, English & German, 4 to 5 actors.
Getrennt is composed for a piano and vocal musical performance.
